PWA is the largest non-political student run welfare organization of Pakistan, located in Civil Hospital Karachi, being run solely by the volunteer students of Dow Medical College.Since 1979, volunteers of PWA have been providing selfless services for the needy and destitute patients of Civil Hospital Karachi completely free of cost.The services we offer include:
Voluntary Blood Bank: One of the largest & the most reputed blood bank in Karachi, providing more than 250 units of blood daily, fully screened for Hepatitis B & C, HIV 1 & 2, Syphilis & Malaria.
Diagnostic Laboratory: Perform regular routine baseline biochemical and haematological investigations for the registered patients of PWA Thalassemia Services and PWA Follow Up Clinics. The Lab also provides the facility of Complete Blood Count with Peripheral Film Study for admitted patients of Civil Hospital Karachi.
Drug Bank: Fulfills the drug requests of unlimited patients of Civil Hospital, Karachi every day.
Thalassemia Services: Provides blood transfusion, medications and regular check-ups to around 275 registered patients suffering from this lifelong blood disease. Funds are required for provision of iron chelation therapy to all the registered patients.
T.B. Follow-up Clinic: Provides the complete 9-12 months therapy to hundreds of patients suffering from Tuberculosis.
General Follow-up Clinic: Provides long-term therapy to the patients suffering from Epilepsy, Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma and SLE.
